Why the Cadillac Escalade-V and Escalade IQL Prove EVs Deserve More Respect

hy the Cadillac Escalade-V and Escalade IQL Prove EVs Deserve More Respect
Today, the automotive industry is undergoing major changes. Car companies have wasted no time retreating from their electric vehicle initiatives and are once again supporting gas-powered vehicles as customer demand cools and global governments pass stricter emissions regulations. Now, I love the high octane, high horsepower gas motor as much as the next guy, but after spending time this year with the two most powerful Suvs in Cadillac - the super charged V8—powered Escalade–V and the all-electric Escalade IQL - I really think we might be getting the wrong way.Yes, Escalade-V could not be done in a million years, as it wakes everyone in the city block by doing a simple cold start, but the additional benefits of electric drivetrain for such a big luxury car can outweigh its drawbacks. Plus, IQL is actually much more powerful than V, and that's what really matters at the end of the day, isn't it?

Let us see how a competent electric drivetrain is a much better solution, despite the appeal of the big V8. Now, due to deregulation and resistance from automakers, we consumers make money from the sale of gas and oil and make it much easier than electric drivetrains. There's no reason I think IQ or IQL will be gone soon, but other automakers who don't have as foresight as GM (crazy, I know) will obviously be able to do so. We are scrapping the EV plan and bringing the internal combustion engine back to the forefront. From where I sit, the only real downside to Escalade IQ and IQL is the size of the beast. The long wheelbase IQL stretches 228.5 inches in length and it weighs the better part of 9,150 pounds, but if you're a relatively normal person who isn't worried about such things, there's not much to dislike here. On the outside, it's pretty handsome in both IQ and IQL guises, with the former adopting a more progressive look, while the latter is definitely attractive to traditional Escalade purchasers.

With both IQ and IQL, the interior is equally beautiful. The Escalade has a really good interior, for the first time in the long run. The horizontally positioned 55-inch screen, which serves as a cluster of your gauges, infotainment screens and passenger displays, provides remarkable AKG stereo, super Cruise, massage seats, power for all four doors, and rear wheel steering, to none in the automotive industry.Of course, save for the rear steer, those are all things you can (and should) ride on the Escalade-V Plus, the V comes with GM's wondrous supercharged 682-liter LT653-ft of almost violent horse power and torque pumping 6.2-liter LT4V8. Adding to the fact that the standard wheelbase car I drove is actually 16.6 inches shorter (the ESV is only 1.5 inches shorter than the IQL) and about 3,000 pounds lighter than the IQL.

Sure, Escalade-V is the most aggressive Lade you can buy, but it's not close to being the most powerful. The IQ and IQL dual motors pump a staggering 750hp and 785lb-ft of torque. A delta of 68 horsepower and 132lb-ft of torque, combined with the momentary jutting of some electric motors, means that the short wheelbase IQ can be obtained from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds, which, according to the car and driver, is only 0.2 seconds behind the much more dedicated V. Because of the way the electric motor can instantly go from 0 power to all the power in the world, I honestly feel the electric escalade is faster. Obviously, the V is more dramatic and does a better job of pulling as the speed continues to rise, but the acceleration difference between these 2 is negligible at best.

Its suspension is not for any sort of performance drive, but honestly, the V's are not really sporty enough to make up for that difference. What makes Escalade IQL a better place to spend time than a V is more than just speed, even though it's almost the same as the driver's seat. Yes, I know this sounds like a kind of crazy coming from me — a guy who loves big cars and big V8s, it's never even the quietest setting of dual mode exhaust, it pops and crackles as you go up and down the 10-speed gearbox. And still loud as hell, with the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the soundAs is true for all Evs, if you're not using Escalade IQL, you're completely silent. Yes, there are some pumped noise that can be confusing, but if you don't want to turn them on, you don't have to turn it on. Oh that makes for an incredibly gentle driving experience and that's something you can replicate even in the most expensive and sophisticated combustion engine powered cars.

Such a low noise floor is what is found in cheap EVs. There's something so great about drifting together in silence, especially if you're cocooned with 9,200 pounds of leather, wood and metal. The Escalade IQ itself won't go away soon (unless GM told us because GM fired 1,500 people at the plant), but IQL and Escalade-V represent 2 aspects of the same coin in the industry. So it's a Ford scrap, electric F-150 lightning long range. Stellantis has been left with its EV plans and canceled right, Volkswagen said its EV business will bring many hybrid vehicles to the United States as flounders.Behind that is that President Trump is doing everything he can to stop the growth of EVs at home, the EU proposes an end to the ban on ICE cars in 2035 and an earthquake shift is happening, that would mean more cars like the Escalade-V on the road and less like the IQL.

I know a lot of people claim that these cars are too big and expensive (base prices start at 1179,335 for escalade-V and destination 136,915 for escalade IQL, which is about what they represent. One is an old, outdated, and frankly unpleasant way to get from point A to point B. Yes, it can be a lot of fun in small quantities electric IQL is a more gentle way for you and six of your close friends to spend some time together as you drift off the highway. It is possible that you might pull  up along with the escalade-V at the stoplight, and you might just be able to beat them in the race down the street.
