A New Era Begins: 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV Gets Its Biggest Makeover Ever
While Mercedes-Benz has retreated from plans to fully supply electricity by 2030 and sunsetting its controversial EQ sub-brand, the carmaker is still working on introducing a number of new EVs, with more traditional Mercedes-like styling and less differentiation between electric and gas-powered models. Mercedes' new electric GLC is about to launch, and now its sedan brothers have made their debut in South Korea: the 2027 C class. Like the GLC, Mercedes will continue to offer the existing internal combustion C-class and both of these models will get a face lift within the next year, but as with the GLC EV, this new electric C-class is a completely different animal. The first model to be launched in the U.S. in the first half of 2027 has a 3.9-second 0-60-mph time, a range of about 400 miles, and all sorts of technology and performance not seen in the C-class.

The C class is riding on the same MB.GLC, EA platform as a dedicated 800 volt electrical architecture. In the C400 4matic, the electric motor on the front axle works when more traction or power is needed, but it can be cut off instantly to improve efficiency. The rear motor has its own 2-speed transmission, the first gear is for fast acceleration, and the 2nd gear is for highway driving. Juiced by a 94kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the C400 pair of motors make a combined 482 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, and its 3.9 seconds 0-60 hours are almost seconds faster than the current C43AMG.There are no figures for the EPA's range yet, but in the European WLTP cycle, the C400 has a range of 473 miles, about 40 miles larger than the GLC400. In the US, it should work out to about 400 miles. DC fast charging of up to 330kW is possible, it can exceed the range of 10 miles (WLTP) in 200 minutes and reach 22% to 10% in 80 minutes. There is a standard DC converter, so the car can quickly charge at a 400-volt station, and there is also an on-board charger of 9.6kW.

The current W205 generation, and optional rear axle steering to get the first C-Class, and the EV system is to provide an angle nearly doubled in. At low speeds the rear wheels ice Model 2.5 against 4.5 degrees you can 44mph on the rear wheels is 2.5 degrees in the front and in sync around. Agility & comfort package of the system in combination with the Mercedes S-Class by a comfortable C-Class say that to make Aromatic air suspension. It automatically Sport mode the car, lowering the speed bumps in front of damping adjustment, predictive and other benzes with the data from the road surface for the reaction to the Car-to-X technology in addition to using it to increase the range for as long as possible. The car help to pick the best possible location source for your current situation.

One of the biggest paint points in the EQ model was the regenerative braking system. Mercedes had not yet gotten the hang of true one-pedal driving, and in early models the brake pedals moved under regen, which was physically uneasy at its best, and hopefully the brakes would no longer be a problem. Mercedes says the C-Class has a always consistent and confident brake pedal feel and can handle up to 300kW of recovery, so almost all brakes can even regenerate energy when braking with ABS on icy roads. Speaking of ice, there is a standard multi-source heat pump that requires a third of the energy just like the usual one, and a powerful climate control system: The newly developed automatic climate control ensures a pleasant and comfortable cabin temperature in winter without pre-adjustment. For example, during a 19-minute journey in 20°F weather, the interior heats up 2 times faster than a model with a combustion engine and it only needs about half the energy thanks to a multi-source heat pump. The heating process starts automatically as soon as the customer enters the vehicle.

While not as extreme as CLA or EQS, the electric C-class has a much more coupe-like profile than the past C-Class. The EV is 5.2 inches long overall and the wheelbase is 3.8 inches long, along with a sloping roofline and short overhangs, giving it a completely different look than the Gas C class. Its front end is basically the same as the GLC EV, dominated by a chrome frame grille with a large central logo and a square pattern reminiscent of the 60s Benzes, except for the fact that every small square can be lit as needed. But apart from the complex lights and grilles, the C-Class is largely restrained in terms of surface and detail. This is the first C-class to have an additional quarter window behind the rear door, and the EV is another way of really feeling different from the others. Mercedes says it has a drag coefficient of 0.22, which is 0.02 improvements over the gas model and is the same as the EQE. It looks like it should be a lift-back, but the C-class has a regular sedan trunk with a capacity of 16.6 cubic feet.

The C-class dashboard and overall interior design are also pretty much the same as the GLC one. Regardless of the amount of options, the dashboard has two displays: a 10.3-inch gauge cluster, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a 14-inch screen in front of the passengers. As standard, passenger display is basically a configurable animated screen saver, but get Super screen and it turns into a touch screen for passengers. What you really want is a Hyper screen that turns the entire panel into a 39.1-inch seamless screen. Say what you do about it, but I've actually come to use a seamless screen, and I think it (and Mercedes's latest MB.OS software in general) is really great. The standard panoramic sunroof gives the front passenger 0.9 inches more head room and the rear passenger an additional 0.4 inches, and the two people above the front also get half an inch more legroom. Its sunroof can have with a dimmable electrochromic coating and 162 illuminated stars.

The optional high-end front seat provides ventilation and massage over the entire backrest surface, while the optional AMG line seat seems to have been certified by the organization for a healthy back because it is so comfortable on long journeys. With the Burmester 4D surround sound system, active ambient lighting changes the beat and color and intensity along with the music, two body sound transducers are added to the front seat, and the speakers are attached close to the ears. Aerodynamics and body rigidity already make the electric C-class really quiet, but Mercedes also decoupled noise-insulated laminated windshields, "massive" sound insulation, new air conditioning systems, specially designed electric motors, and an elastomer mount between the suspension and the body to make it even quieter.

It comes standard with 11 airbags, including front center airbags and front knee airbags, and includes new driver assistance features such as a pre-safe curve function that alerts the driver if he or she thinks he or she is approaching a corner and tightens the seat belt. The Drive Assist Pro system enables hands-free point-to-point driving in cities. I don't know how much it will cost when the C400 is launched in the first half of 2027, but probably between 6 51,000 C300 and 6 66,300 EQE320, probably around the 6k mark. I think a cheaper rear-wheel drive model will come later, and we know that Mercedes has 900 horsepower. I know that I'm working on the AMG version of the game. When the electric C-class does not hit the city, it will soon face tough competition in the form of the new BMW i3.
